Why write about teamwork all in tweets? You might ask! I had only just heard about twitter in 2009 when my friend, Tom Batchelder (author of a normal book, ‘Barking Up a Dead Horse’) suggested I get going writing my thoughts and ideas about organizational teams after he heard a few of my passionate comments about the need for top notch teamwork in a time of fast-paced change and when leadership is under ever greater scrutiny for adapability and motivating others. Tom mentioned a new series of books in the Thinkaha Series: a book series for thinking adults who are pressed for time but eager to learn relevant knowledge on cutting edge topics.
I knew I had plenty of ideas and thoughts to share about teams, having been on various teams since I was a young kid. More importantly, I know that many teams are failing to reach their potential and are in pain. As a team coach and Organizational Development facilitator of groups, I am brought into many different organizations to help out with strategy development, execution, resolving team conflict, supporting post merger integration and leadership development. I often see teams full of smart people struggling to work well together. It’s not just personality differences or misunderstandings from poor communication that mar productivity. Many teams have been put together without the foundation for success. In part this relates to leadership but the foundation for high performing teamwork involves many other factors, which is why I wrote the book.
Please order a copy now. Think of ordering one for your colleagues and friends. Even your boss! Exchange your thoughts and ideas and see whether you can improve your own team, reducing the pain and conflict while increasing employee engagement and achievement.
